Step 2: Install the CLI
Install the officeclaws command-line tool on macOS, Linux, or Windows.
macOS and Linux
1. Open a terminal and run:
curl -fsSL https://officeclaws.com/downloads/install.sh | shThe installer finds the latest version for your system, downloads it, and copies it to /usr/local/bin. It may ask for your computer password (sudo) at this point.
When it finishes, you should see:
Installed officeclaws 0.2.11 → /usr/local/bin/officeclaws
Next: officeclaws register (then: officeclaws subscribe)
2. Check that it works:
officeclaws versionIf you see
command not found, the installer used~/.local/bininstead. It also printed a note asking you to add that folder to yourPATH. Add this line to your~/.zshrcor~/.bashrcand open a new terminal:export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"
Windows
Windows support is experimental. There is no installer yet, and the full setup hasn't been verified on Windows.
- Open officeclaws.com/downloads/cli/latest.json and note the current version number.
- Download
officeclaws_<version>_windows_amd64.zipfromhttps://officeclaws.com/downloads/cli/<version>/. Use thearm64file instead on ARM devices. - Unzip it and move
officeclaws.exeto a folder that is on yourPATH. - In PowerShell, run
officeclaws versionto check that it works.
Install options
You can change how the installer behaves with these environment variables:
| Variable | What it does |
|---|---|
OFFICECLAWS_INSTALL_DIR=~/bin | Install to a different folder |
OFFICECLAWS_NO_ANALYTICS=1 | Don't send the anonymous "installed" event |
Example:
curl -fsSL https://officeclaws.com/downloads/install.sh | OFFICECLAWS_INSTALL_DIR=~/bin shUpdating
Run the install command again. It always installs the latest version over the old one.
