Manage agents

Add more agents, reinstall, switch computers, manage saved credentials and connected devices.

Add another agent

Each agent needs its own VPS. Order another server in Contabo (Step 4), then run:

officeclaws onboard --name Bob

Your saved Contabo and Tailscale credentials are reused, so you only need to pick the new server. After that, use --agent <id> to choose which agent a command applies to. Run officeclaws agents to see the IDs.

Replace or reinstall an agent

To start over on the same server, for example after a failed setup or if you want a clean agent, reinstall the server first. Running officeclaws onboard again on a server that is already set up doesn't work, because the first setup closes public SSH on it. The --reinstall option doesn't wipe your VPS either.

In the Contabo control panel, open the VPS, choose Reinstall, and pick Ubuntu 24.04. Everything on the server is erased, including the agent's memory and settings, its Telegram setup, and its scheduled tasks.
Wait until Contabo shows that the reinstall has finished.
Run setup again and pick the same VPS from the list:

Afterwards, run officeclaws connect-codex again.

Use the CLI on another computer

Install the CLI on the new computer.
Run officeclaws login.
Install Tailscale and sign in to the same tailnet.
The new computer doesn't have the SSH key that setup installed on the server, and running officeclaws onboard again won't add it, because public SSH on the server is closed after setup. Keep using the computer you set the agent up from, or contact support on Telegram or at [email protected] and we'll help you add another computer.

Saved credentials (vault)

The CLI can store several sets of credentials, for example two Contabo accounts. You can switch between them:

Connected devices

Every app that connects to your agent's control panel is a "device". The CLI approves its own devices automatically during setup. If you connect something else, such as the desktop app or the agent's web dashboard, you may need to approve it:

officeclaws pairing list
officeclaws pairing approve <request-id>
officeclaws pairing reject <request-id>

If chat or logs fail with 1008 pairing required, run:

officeclaws pairing repair

Stop paying for an agent

Office Claws doesn't delete servers. To stop an agent completely, cancel the VPS in your Contabo account. To cancel your Office Claws subscription, email [email protected] from the address you signed up with, or message support on Telegram. See the refund policy for details.
